Train in the Distance Lite AnnouncementFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media contact: Scott Wood, (214) 924-6457, scott@traininthedistance.com
Dallas, Texas, March 7, 2008 - Train in the Distance, an annual concert benefiting the American Cancer Society, is happy to announce the first of three 2008 events.
"Train in the Distance Lite - A night of music and conversations highlighting the power of song," will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Theatre Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
"This concert varies slightly from what we've done in the past, in that it will have a more acoustic feel to it," says Scott Wood, founder of the event. "In performing what would be classified as more Adult Contemporary numbers, we feel like we're reaching out to an audience we haven't connected with before."
This show will keep its entire-family appeal, but will focus on the softer, more lyrical hits of artists such as John Mayer, Paul Simon, Dan Fogelberg, and James Taylor. This show will feel "more like a VH1-Storytellers episode" according to Wood.
2008 also marks the first time Train in the Distance will team up with Theatre Arlington - who is sponsoring the May concert.
"I'm elated to have our event associated with such a well-established and respected theatre,” Wood said, adding that “Theatre Arlington has been very involved in supporting the community, and their sponsorship of this event is another strong example of their concern for great causes." Pix Smith, Business Director at Theatre Arlington commented: "We are proud to support Train in the Distance and the American Cancer Society this year. Our involvement in this event not only allows us to provide more quality entertainment for our patrons, but more importantly, gives us an opportunity to aid in the fight against this terrible disease."
Train in the Distance - Train in the Distance is an annual American Cancer Society concert event founded by local amateur actor and cancer survivor, Scott Wood in 2006. The concert event is a professional-quality; family-oriented live show that not only raises funds for the ACS, but also promotes awareness of the need for continued cancer research.
