The 2007 Event
Train in the Distance raised over $11,000 for the American Cancer Society for 2007!!!
"The thought that life could be better is woven indelibly into our hearts and our brains." Though the Paul Simon song, Train in the Distance, primarily speaks about the problem of us seeing the grass as being greener on the other side, the truth stands that we all think life can be better than it is today...that the 'train in the distance' represents something greater. The purpose of this concert is to give many of us a chance to do something that can make life better. Cancer affects us all. Our friends. Our family. Our neighbors. Ourselves. And while great strides have been made in recent years in treating many forms of cancer - there is still a long way to go. Net proceeds from this concert will be donated to the American Cancer Society for the purpose of research. "Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance." June 1 & 2, 2007 will give us the opportunity to create that sound... and help give hope to those suffering from all forms of cancer. This year’s event will again take place at the 299-seat Campus Theatre in Denton, Texas. Even if you cannot make it, there will be opportunities to donate – including the opportunity to have the name of a loved one you have lost to cancer included in the ShowBill. With more time to plan, a larger production staff, and as an official event sponsored by the American Cancer Society, this year's concert promises to be a treat for entire family. Train in the Distance II will have an upgrade in sound equipment; additional time for lighting and set design; and a band with a year of experience under their belts as a group. There have also been a few new additions of local talent to the OneNightOnly Band. There will be more hits from the likes of Paul Simon; the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, and many others.
